Golden Eagles Earn Scoreless Tie In Chico

CHICO -- Cal State L.A.'s women's soccer team blanked an opponent for the second straight time on its Northern California trip.

This time, though, the Golden Eagles had to settle for a 0-0 tie with Chico State in California Collegiate Athletic Association action Sunday at Chico State's University Soccer Stadium. Cal State L.A. (6-4-1, 4-3-1) was coming off a 1-0 overtime win over Cal State Stanislaus on Friday.

Cal State L.A. goalie Reyna Coca had another strong game in the net. She made eight saves to record her second straight shutout. One of those saves came in the first overtime period to preserve the tie.

Chico State held a 13-8 edge in shots and had a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Chico State's Kari Gonzalez made four saves for the Wildcats (7-4-1, 4-2-1), who moved into a share of the CCAA North Division lead with the victory.

Erika Prado was an offensive threat during the match for the Golden Eagles and had three of Cal State L.A.'s eight shots.

The Golden Eagles will return to action with a match on Sunday against Grand Canyon at Jesse Owens Track.
